MY SALVI/AMERICAN DREAM

A lot of times people that have been born in the USA have asked me "Why America, and not somewhere else in the world?"

I have found myself very troubled by the simple act of answering that question... To be quite honest with you all, I feel more American than most of the people asking me that very same question over and over. I was born in one of the most magical continents of our planet. America!!! The Country: El Salvador in Central America, the heart of AMERICA.

Raised in San Miguel. A town with a population of a little more than a million people nowadays. Not a very small town after all. Attended Catholic School and did the "right thing" for about most of my childhood. But there was a dream inside my heart since I was a little kid... before I was 3 years old I was already on stage dancing "La Lambada". Oh yes! I was BORN to be an ENTERTAINER. I continued performing every single year at school in every play, dance performance and just about anything that had to do with the act of me getting on a stage and having all eyes on me.

Fortunately, my family supported me all the way in every crazy thing I'd say and they would take me to rehearsals. Merci Beaucoup! My mother and Grandparents really did believed in ME and continue to do so until this day.

I started coming to Hollywood as a tourist since age 6 since my mom had two home bases, San Miguel and LA. Eventually, all this exposure to traveling, seeing people, hearing different languages, sharing with all types of people from all over the world created such an impact that did not only shape me into who I AM today but It marked the path I was going to take for the rest of my life. I was to become a citizen of the world and an ENTERTAINER!

I HAVE A DREAM. A VERY SALVI/AMERICAN DREAM. I want to entertain you. I want to make movies. I want to make television shows. I want to make you smile. I want to make you laugh. I want you to feel what others are feeling at a given moment in their lives. I want you to cry with me. I want you to fall in love with my characters or hate them to death. I want you to open your eyes to things you did not know about since you were too busy to notice them. I want you to FEEL ALIVE. I want you to just BE... It is so liberating to be with people around you that love you with all your imperfections and still support your craft. Fame is not even part of my dream because what's fame good for today? tabloids? mmm No, thanks!

Little by little things are coming my way. I am enjoying every single opportunity coming my way and the best of all, learning from them. I am blessed enough to be working with such talented people that I look up to and that have become true mentors to me in my craft. THANK YOU to all of those who believe in me and continue calling me for projects. From those 18 hour production where there is no pay but just a lot of hard work and tons of artists working to take a project to the next level. THANK YOU to those who have closed doors to me because each time that happened three more opened and better projects came about.

My dream is now becoming true. From a dream, it developed into a long term project and right now I am one class away from completing the requirements to get my Associate of Arts in Television Production. (2 more semesters to complete the transfer GE's courses) "Who would have thought that Alejandro was going to get so lucky to come to Hollywood and pursue his dreams from his little town in San Miguel?"

I still don't know how to answer why I came to America since I feel I was born in the heart of it... El Salvador. But a thing I know is that I am a dreamer who is working to get to where I want to be! I came to Hollywood to give my all and share my talent with wonderfully talented artists in this town. I choose to Belive in ME!

Here in Hollywood driving down Sunset Blvd, taking the subway in Paris, strolling in Manhattan, in the back of a truck in El Salvador, or in Old Town Prague I remain ME... A free salvadorian artist that wants to entertain, and hopefully inspire others to follow their heart/calling... Can't go wrong with that!
